Hampton Classic Art: Past & Present

The Hampton Classic, August 26-September 2, is one of the world’s most prestigious horse shows and features competitors at every level from young children in leadline to Olympic, World, and World Cup Champions.  The Classic also has competitions for riders with disabilities. The Hampton Classic features more than 200 classes in six show rings, a Boutique Garden with more than 70 vendors, and a wide selection of dining options, all on its world-class 60-acre show grounds.

The Hampton Classic does an elegant equestrian style poster every year which has become an iconic tradition of this event. This year’s poster art is by  Jennifer Brandon, of Waverly, Pennsylvania. “I was drawn to the comradery between this horse and rider – a beautiful pair,” described Brandon. “The striking contrast of the black horse in all its power and motion against the vast blue sky created a harmonious energy that I found irresistible.”

Brandon’s piece, “A Splash of Red,” is a 24” x 24” oil on canvas is 2018’s Hampton Classic signature poster.

2017- Lynn Mara, Grace and Strength

2017’s poster features art from that of Lynn Mara, a Southampton, NY native. Mara’s selected artwork, “Grace and Strength,” is an acrylic on canvas painted in a color pallet consisting of brown and blues to blue-greens which she describes as ‘Hamptons colors.’ She created the piece from a photograph that she took at the Hampton Classic Horse Show.
