Wellington, FL (January 18, 2012) JRPR – The Sanctuary at PBIEC, a world-class rehab and conditioning facility located on the grounds of the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC), will be hosting an open house during the third week of the Winter Equestrian Festival, Wednesday, January 25th from 3 to 5 p.m. The event will give attendees an inside look at the therapies offered by The Sanctuary, which has its full facility in Ocala.  The PBIEC facility is an offshoot of this main campus, and The Sanctuary’s mission is to provide the equine athlete with top of the line rehabilitation and conditioning.  During the open house, horse owners will have the chance to enter a free drawing to win a conditioning or treatment package of their choice for their equine companion.

“The Sanctuary at PBIEC’s open house is going to be a wonderful way for horse owners, trainers, riders, grooms and visitors at the Winter Equestrian Festival to learn more about our mission and to give equestrians a taste of the full line of treatments we offer on our main campus,” said Brenda McDuffee, General Manager of The Sanctuary’s Ocala facility.

The Sanctuary Equine Sports Therapy & Rehabilitation Center, located on 30 acres in Ocala, Florida, has built a tremendous reputation on their ability to condition and rehabilitate equines of all disciplines, from hunters and jumpers to dressage and event horses to racehorses and reining champions. “Our Ocala facility has had so much success over the years with helping to either rehab horses and get them back in the show ring or help condition horses so that they are competing at their very best,” McDuffee said. “In addition to our main location and our Wellington facility, The Sanctuary also has a mobile state-of-the-art therapy unit that travels to shows.  The Sanctuary’s PBIEC location is a permanent addition to the Winter Equestrian Festival showgrounds, and like the mobile unit, makes The Sanctuary’s treatments more available.  However, The Sanctuary’s Ocala facility offers a full line of conditioning and rehabilitation treatments, from a saltwater swimming pool to the Hyperbaric chamber.  It truly is a sanctuary for the injured or high performance equine athlete.”

McDuffee added, “Human athletes are very dedicated to conditioning their bodies as they prepare to compete and we need to treat our equine athletes the same as we would a person,” she said. “At The Sanctuary in Ocala we believe in adequately preparing the horse for the show ring, which includes building muscle and stamina. We have owners and trainers who routinely use our equine swimming pool and our treadmills. Our goal is to send every horse home in the best condition possible.”

Injured horses, or those in need of rehab, have also found the Ocala facility to be part of their success in returning to top form. “One of the great things about our Ocala facility is that we have so many services all in one location and a staff that is thoroughly trained and able to help,” McDuffee said. “All of the therapies used by The Sanctuary, whether our Ocala location, The Sanctuary at PBIEC or our mobile therapy unit, are based on methods used for human rehabilitation and conditioning and much of the equipment is the same as that used by college and professional athletes.”
