Featured Store: Charlotte’s Saddlery

Introducing… Charlotte’s Saddlery: with a “small town” feel in the middle of the big city of Houston, Texas.  Charlotte’s Saddlery is owned by two twin brothers Mark and Tim who have clearly distinguished a true southern charm of service at Charlotte’s.  Every time I walk in to the store (which is quite often) I always hear someone greet me by name and am welcomed as part of the Charlotte’s family.  Between the warm welcome and quality products, Charlotte continues to thrive in the equestrian industry.

Saddles, breeches, boots and more!

Even though I have been shopping at Charlotte’s for years, I was curious to get the inside scoop into what was trending for the Fall/Winter equestrian forecast. Both Mark and Tim unanimously agreed that there was a definite increase in riding boot sales for the upcoming season. They stated, “the increase would be in tall (all weather) types of boots. Rubber boots and some of the trendy Dubarry and Dublin lifestyle sport boots are good examples of the fashion all weather boots.” Helmets are also another riding apparel product that seems to be flying off the shelves. They explained how the helmet color choices, designs and pricing was all over the board and that years ago the consumer did not have the choices that they have these days.  Due to the fact that riders have more helmets to choose from, some people are now using a different helmet at the farm than they do in the show ring.

Charlotte’s Saddlery has two locations: one in the Houston (Katy) area and the other in Tomball, a suburb of Houston. The Katy location is known more for their extensive English apparel that is available for Women, but also both children as well as Men.  When asked what style of riding was more popular at Charlotte’s, English or Western, the brothers explained that, “Though the business was founded on English, we realized a number of years ago that we were missing the mark by not carrying Western. Both areas have their popularity though we have more extensive product coverage with the English since we carry the apparel for that but not for the Western. I think it surprises some people that there is as much English as there is in Texas.”

Ariat, GPA, Dublin, Tuffrider, M. Toulouse, Pessoa, Tucker, Weatherbeeta, and Tailored Sportsman are just a few of the big equestrian brands carried at Charlottes Saddlery.  Two biggest annual events held at Charlotte’s are the Tent Sale that takes place at the Houston location in September, and the Holiday Sale that takes place at the Tomball location in October.
