The next exquisite equestrian social event for the season in Charleston, South Carolina is almost here! On Sunday November 11, 2012, the 19th running of the Charleston Cup Steeplechase is scheduled to take place at The Plantation at Stono Ferry. Sanctioned by The National Steeplechase Association, the Charleston Cup has become one of the premier sporting events in the Carolina Lowcountry. This event brings spectators to experience traditional equestrian horse racing at its finest.
The race weekend kicks off with an elegant black-tie Race Ball on Friday where live music, excellent food and a special race preview will lead to an unforgettable night before the Cup.
Sunday Morning will kick off with the nation’s top riders, trainers, and owners as they prepare to compete for purses totalling $50,000. Over 16,000 spectators will enjoy a full day of races that start at 9:00 am. Attendees will arrive early with picnic baskets packed with everything from champagne and h’or doevres to fried chicken and cold beer. A vendor village along with tailgating is in full swing around 12:00 P.M.
